AI reconciliation, minus the matching.
Match transactions, clear the easy ones, and surface only the real exceptions.
Overview
Most reconciliation time goes on matches that are obvious. dexIQ clears those and concentrates your attention on the genuine breaks, with the likely cause already worked out.
The reconciliation agent matches bank lines to ledger entries, scores its confidence, and proposes matches for the ones that are not exact. Anything it is unsure about goes to a person, not silently through.
Reconciliation stops being a month-end scramble and becomes a background process you check, not a job you dread.
What you get
- Automated bank-to-ledger and credit/debit matching.
- Confidence-scored suggestions for partial and fuzzy matches.
- Exceptions surfaced with a reason, not just a mismatch.
- A clean, auditable trail for every cleared item.
How AI transaction matching works
Rule-based reconciliation matches on exact values. Same amount, same date, same reference, cleared. Everything else lands in a list for a person, and that list is the job.
AI matching works on similarity rather than equality. A payment that arrives two days late, batched with two other invoices, with the supplier name abbreviated in the bank narration, is still recognisably that payment. dexIQ scores how confident it is, clears what is beyond doubt, and proposes the rest with the reasoning shown.
You set where the line sits. High-confidence matches clear on their own; anything below your threshold waits for a person. The system learns from what you accept and what you reject, so the threshold pays off more over time, not less.
- Bank-to-ledger matching on amount, date proximity, narration and history.
- One-to-many and many-to-one matching for batched and part payments.
- Fuzzy supplier and reference matching across inconsistent bank narration.
- Confidence scores on every proposed match, with the reasoning visible.
- Corrections fed back in, so recurring patterns match cleanly next month.
Exceptions with a cause, not just a list
The value is not in the matches that clear. It is in what is left. A conventional tool hands you a list of unmatched lines and leaves you to work out why each one is there.
dexIQ says what it thinks happened: this looks like a duplicate receipt, this payment is short by the amount of a credit note, this transaction has no ledger entry at all, this one matches an invoice from a different entity. You are checking a conclusion rather than starting an investigation.
Beyond the bank feed
The same matching engine runs on the other reconciliations that eat a close: supplier statements against the AP ledger, remittances against open invoices, purchase orders against bills and receipts, clearing and suspense accounts, and card and expense transactions against receipts captured from the inbox.
Because dexIQ is already reading the accounts inbox, the remittance advice and the supplier statement are usually in hand before anyone goes looking for them.
- Supplier statement reconciliation against the AP ledger.
- Remittance and cash receipt matching against open invoices.
- Purchase order, invoice and receipt three-way matching.
- Clearing, suspense and intercompany account reconciliation.
- Card and expense transactions matched to receipts.
Control and audit
Nothing clears silently. Every automated match is logged with its confidence and the evidence behind it, every manual decision is logged with the person who made it, and the whole trail is exportable for audit. Reconciliation becomes a background process you review, not a month-end scramble you survive.
Questions
Bank Reconciliation, answered.
What is AI reconciliation software?
It is software that matches transactions between two sets of records, a bank feed and a ledger for example, using AI rather than exact-match rules. It handles partial payments, batched payments, date differences and inconsistent references, scores its confidence in each match, and escalates only what it cannot resolve.
How is it different from Xero bank rules?
Bank rules match on conditions you write in advance, so they only handle patterns you have already anticipated and need maintaining as things change. dexIQ matches on similarity and history, deals with the messy cases rules miss, and explains why each exception is an exception.
Does it reconcile anything other than the bank?
Yes. Supplier statements against the AP ledger, remittances against open invoices, purchase orders against bills and receipts, clearing and suspense accounts, and card and expense transactions against receipts.
Will it clear transactions without me looking?
Only above the confidence threshold you set, and only where you have enabled it. Everything else waits for review. Every automated match is logged with its confidence and evidence, so you can audit what cleared and why.
How accurate is the matching?
Accuracy depends on your data, so we would rather show you than quote a number. On a typical Xero file the large majority of routine bank lines clear without intervention, and the remaining exceptions arrive with a proposed cause. Run it against your own history in a trial and judge it on that.
